Opening a restaurant in Riyadh: a 90-day launch plan

The first three months decide how a new restaurant is remembered. Riyadh diners love trying new places — and they move on quickly. A launch plan makes sure the first wave of curiosity turns into regulars.

Here is the 90-day plan we use, split into three phases.

Before opening: build curiosity (days −60 to 0)

  • Name, handles and profiles. Secure the same handle on Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok, and create your Google Business Profile as early as the location allows.
  • Hoarding and site. Your construction hoarding is free media: a clear name, a QR code and “opening soon”.
  • Teaser content. Behind-the-scenes of the kitchen, the chef, the design and the first tastings. Show people, not just renders.
  • Waitlist. Collect phone numbers through a simple form or WhatsApp for early bookings and opening invitations.
  • Menu shoot. Book a proper photo and video day before opening. Every channel will need it.

Opening month: create the moment (days 0 to 30)

  • Soft opening for friends, neighbours and creators. Invite licensed local creators in small groups so the content spreads across the month, not one evening.
  • Paid campaigns. Snapchat and TikTok ads around a 5–10 km radius, plus Google Maps visibility for “near me” searches.
  • Reviews from day one. Ask happy guests to leave a Google review, and reply to every one.
  • Fix fast. Read every comment and review. Opening weeks are when small problems become reputations.

After the launch: build regulars (days 30 to 90)

  • Always-on content — a steady rhythm of dishes, people and moments, not only offers.
  • A reason to come back — a weekday breakfast, a signature dessert, a set menu or a loyalty perk.
  • Delivery, on your terms — if you join the apps, do it with a focused menu. See our guide on delivery apps vs your own channels.
  • Plan the next moment — the next occasion in the Saudi calendar (Ramadan, Founding Day, National Day or Riyadh Season) should already be in production.

What to measure

  1. Waitlist sign-ups before opening.
  2. Bookings and covers per week.
  3. Google rating and review count.
  4. Repeat visits by day 90.

A launch is not one night. It is the first 90 days.
